First Stop Motion Animation Evaluation.

  • It can be understood that the video is about Tetris videogame. Although we forgot to remove the complete lines below.
  • It takes a long time to create.
  • It looks a little fuzzy.
  • It is too short.
  • It need sound but because the video is short, there is no sound.
  • I would like to improve the quality of the pictures, take more time to create it better, use more colors, and add sound.

What is animation?

In the multimedia world (audio and video) when we speak of "animation", we refer to what is known popularly as "cartoon".
  • Animation is the process that manages to give movement to drawings or inanimate objects usually.
  • This is possible thanks to a sequence of drawings or photographs that being together manage to generate a credible movement to our eyes.
  • For example if we want to create the feeling of a walk in a character, we should draw each of the steps performed in separate sheets (each sheet drawn with a different pose) so at the time to pass them consecutively, we perceive the sensation of movement.
  • This requires patience, effort and dedication.

Types of animation

1. Traditional animation

It consists of drawing frame by frame.
In the beginning it was done through the drawn and painted every frame, only to be shot in a filmstrip.
In the 1910s , the process is streamlined to appear animation cells, invented by Bray and Hurd, which was to use transparent sheets, in which the characters were animated without having to paint the background in each frame.
At present are used various digital media.

2. Stop Motion.

Animation technique that does not fall in the category of cartoon.
It consists of movements appear static objects, capturing pictures frame by frame or movement by movement.
It's divided in:

  • Animation of Clay motion.
  • Animation of rigid objects.

3. Rotoscoping.

This type of animation is to draw directly on the reference, for example on the pictures of filming of a real person.

Snow White, the protagonist of the first Disney animated feature was encourage in this way.
It is considered a precursors of motion capture, the name by which is know to the motion capture computer used to recreate digital characters in movies, such as "Gollum" of the trilogy "Lord of the Rings".

There is some degree of controversy whether the rotoscoping is a real animation and its artistic value.

4. Cut out Animation.

  • Technique using cut-out figures, either paper o photographs.
  • The members of the body of the characters are constructed based cuts.
  • The animation is achieved by moving and replacing the cut parts of the body.

5. 3D Animation.

In the three-dimensional animation there is some editor programs allows simulation of animation, textures, lighting, camera movement and special effects.
It is a complete and wonderful tool when the animator who handles provide soul knows its elements.

Virtually our entire existence is to perceive and process information that comes from the signs.

Semiotics is the science that studies the different systems of signs.

There is three types of Semiotics:

Semantics- Relation between the signs and the meaning.
Syntax- Formal relations of signs in chain.
Pragmatics- Study of signs in relation to users.

It is important to know the function of the sign.

The function of the sign consist to make reference to something that is not present.

The sign must have a signifier, a signified, a denotation and a cultural entity.

Signifier also called material form refers to what is perceives through the sense, either by a smell, color, or sound, etc.

Minimalist Film

This boot with a plan represents the film of Wall-E, as in the film, the boot is used to keep the plant alive, and it is used to get to know that in the world there is still life, so those who have seen the film can instantly recognize this minimalist, as it is one of the most important parts of the movie, a part of the struggle that makes the robot (Wall-E) for the other robot (Eva).
